Robinson Tabbed As NWC Pitcher of the Week

Matt Robinson was selected as the Northwest Conference's Pitcher of the Week this week after another outstanding outing. Robinson tossed seven scoreless innings in the Loggers 14-0 win over Lewis & Clark.

For the second consecutive week, Robinson allowed just four hits in seven innings without allowing a run. He also tallied five strikeouts against the Pioneers.

The seven scoreless innings matched his first outing of the season from last week's series against St. Martin's. The senior from Lafayette, Calif. has tossed 14 consecutive scoreless innings to start his season.

He currently leads the NWC with 14 innings pitched and is one of just two pitchers to not surrender a run with at least 10 innings pitched. He is also tied for the NWC lead with two wins so far.

The Loggers offense has also rallied behind Robinson this year. They have outscored opponents 26-0 in the two games he has started on the mound. Jarrod Beiser finished the last two innings of each game without surrendering a run.

The Loggers have one more weekend of nonconference play before beginning their conference slate at home. This week, they head down to Portland to face Concordia, Oregon Tech and Willamette.

Lucas Stone is going into his sophomore season and looking to step into a bigger role for the Loggers. As a freshman, he contributed both at the plate and one the mound. He also found that Puget Sound was a perfect fit to pursue two of his passions in life. “Being a student athlete has been been great because I have been able to pursue my passions in the sciences while pursuing my love of baseball. It's a busy life but I wouldn't have it any other way.”
