PORTLAND, Oregon – Nolan Wiler hit his first collegiate home run, but the Puget Sound baseball team lost at Lewis & Clark, 7-3, on Sunday afternoon.
Wiler broke a scoreless tie with a leadoff home run in the third inning for the Loggers (5-8, 1-3). However, Lewis & Clark (3-7, 3-4 NWC) answered with four runs in the home half of the stanza.
The Loggers got a run back in the fourth inning. Corey Roberts smacked a one-out double and advanced to third on a passed ball. Wiler's infield hit brought Roberts home and cut the Pioneers' lead in half.
Lewis & Clark struck for two more runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.
Wiler finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored. Roberts and James Dejesus both finished 1-for-3 with a walk.
The Loggers return home on Saturday, March 11, to host Linfield in a doubleheader that starts at 11 a.m.
