Winning the weekend

The Loggers lost the first game of a three-game series, 4-2, at Pacific on March 18. However, Puget Sound bounced back to sweep the doubleheader the following day. The Loggers have won three of their last four games, including a 2-1 home win against Linfield.

Earning it

The Puget Sound pitching staff has a remarkable 1.54 ERA through its last four games. During that stretch, Merle Rowan-Kennedy tossed seven shutout innings in a win over Linfield, and Joe Brennan worked 5.2 shutout innings out of the bullpen during a win at Pacific. Overall this season, the Loggers' 3.83 ERA is second in the NWC (Linfield, 3.67).

Shut the door

Puget Sound closer Michael Warnick leads the NWC with six saves – two more than the second-best total in the league. The sophomore has a 1.42 ERA through 12.2 innings this season.

Scouting Whitworth (12-9, 4-8 NWC)

The Pirates split a four-game series against nationally-ranked Pacific Lutheran last weekend, and then split a midweek doubleheader at Whitman on Wednesday. Whitworth's offense has produced the most runs in the NWC (139) and has also drawn the most walks (109). The Pirates' 37 steals rank second in the NWC. Matthew Nelson leads the team with seven home runs, while Daniel Casanova's 17 steals are tops in the league. On the pitching front, Whitworth's 4.49 ERA is seventh in the NWC.
