TACOMA, Washington – The 2018 Puget Sound baseball season begins this weekend with four non-conference games in Oregon. The Loggers begin with Lewis & Clark on Saturday, Feb. 10, in Newberg, Oregon, at 10 a.m. Puget Sound then hops a quick bus ride to Linfield for a 5 p.m. game. The Loggers take on the Pioneers once more in Newberg, Sunday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m., and conclude the trip on Monday, Feb. 12, at George Fox for an 11 a.m. first pitch.

A preseason poll of the nine NWC head coaches revealed that Linfield is expected to repeat as conference champions. The Wildcats received four first-place votes, while Whitworth and Willamette both received two votes. Pacific Lutheran got one first-place vote. The Loggers are expected to finish eighth in the NWC.
The Loggers begin their NWC schedule with three games at Pacific Lutheran, starting Feb. 17.
Cheney Stadium to host crosstown rivalry
The Loggers and Pacific Lutheran will continue their crosstown rivalry in a con-conference game at Cheney Stadium – home of the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers – April 26. The two teams met at Cheney last year, and the Loggers ultimately prevailed with a 4-2 win.
