Puget Sound hosts George Fox for Senior Weekend

TACOMA, Washington – Six Logger seniors and their loved ones are to be honored on Logger Field this weekend as the Puget Sound baseball team plays host to George Fox for three games. Saturday's doubleheader, which starts at 12 p.m., will be held at Pacific Lutheran. Sunday's 12 p.m. game is slated to be played on Logger Field.

Puget Sound will honor James Dejesus, Jordan Hirae, Ryan Moyes, Cal Muramaru, Merle Rowan-Kennedy, and Joshua Zavisubin before Sunday's game.

 

Feed the streak

Freshman Kyle Strash enters this weekend with an eight-game hitting streak. He's hitting 11-for-26 (.423) during the streak, and he has walked 10 times. Overall this season, Strash's .380 batting average ranks third in the Northwest Conference, and his .513 on-base percentage is third.

 

Slug it out

Nick Ultsch's .588 slugging percentage ranks third in the NWC, and he is the only player in the NWC with at least three doubles (8), three triples (3), and three home runs (4).

 

More than a chance

Michael Warnick is 6-2 on the bump this season, and he is tied for the best winning percentage (.750) among all NWC starting pitchers with at least eight starts.

 

Expect offensive things

George Fox (.298) and Puget Sound (.295) are the two top-hitting teams in the NWC. The teams are also tied for the second-best on-base percentage (.388).
