LOS ANGELES, California – The Puget Sound baseball team is still in search of its first win of 2019 after it lost both ends of doubleheader at Occidental Saturday afternoon. The Tigers beat the Loggers, 8-0, in the first game, and won again in the second game, 12-3.
After falling behind, 2-0, in the first inning of the second game, the Loggers immediately answered with a run in the second frame. Mason Quinlan led off with a single up the middle, and Corey Roberts followed with an RBI double down the right-field line.
Occidental (3-0) put up two more runs in both the third and fourth inning.
Roberts picked up another RBI later in the game with a sac fly that scored Jack Gries in the sixth inning. Overall, he hit 2-for-2 for the game.
In the first game, AJ Morioko had a multi-hit game by going 2-for-4 with a double. Quinlan, Roberts, and Ricardo Barraza also doubled in the game, but the Loggers could not capitalize with runners in scoring position.
The Loggers play at Claremont-M-S Sunday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. before returning to the Pacific Northwest.
