Loggers Row Into 2010 Season At Daffodil Cup
LAKEWOOD, Wash. - Hitting the water for the first time in 2010, the Puget Sound Loggers opened up the season by hosting the Daffodil Cup on Saturday morning on American Lake in Lakewood, Wash.
The Logger men opened up the regatta with a narrow victory over Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference rival Lewis & Clark in the Varsity 8+, posting a time of 6:06.95 over the 2000-meter course to win by 0.40 seconds.
The Logger women made the women's V8+ just as exciting, as the fifth-ranked Puget Sound boat finished just 0.15 seconds behind top-ranked Western Washington. The Logger's 2V8+ finished about ten seconds behind the Division II Vikings as the two teams set the stage for another spring of competitive races.
The Loggers were also victorious in the women's Novice 4+ as teams from Washington State, Willamette, Pacific Lutheran, Seattle Pacific and Seattle University all joined Puget Sound, Lewis & Clark and Western Washington at the season-opening regatta.
The Loggers head down to Vancouver, Wash. next weekend for the NCRC Invitational on Lake Vancouver.
