Six women's rowers earn Scholar-Athlete nod

TACOMA, Washington – Six Puget Sound women's rowers were named Scholar Athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association, the CRCA announced this week.

Kyra Farr, Kayla Hipp, Leslie Machabee, Lily O'Connor, Monica Schweitz, and Katie Snodgress were recognized by the CRCA for their excellence in the classroom.

In order to qualify, student-athletes must be in the second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, compete in at least 75 percent of varsity-eight or second varsity-eight races during the spring, and hold a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA. 

Earlier this spring, Hipp received Puget Sound's Paul & Helen Perdue Award for Community Service, and O'Connor was recognized for graduating with the top GPA among all Puget Sound female student-athletes (3.99 GPA; tied with Jessica Gott, softball). Hipp was also named to the All-WIRA Second Team this season.
