Loggers Hold Onto Fourth On Both Sides of NWC Fall Classic

PORTLAND, Ore. - Following the first rounds of the 2009 Northwest Conference Fall Classic, the Puget Sound Loggers sit in fourth place on both the men's and women's competitions at Heron Lakes GC in Portland, Ore.

On the men's side, the Loggers were paced by a four-over 76 from senior Marc Phillips (Boise, Idaho/Timberline) as Puget Sound shot a 309 to sit 10 strokes back of defending champion Linfield.  Pacific is second at 301, followed by Whitworth at 306.  Following the Loggers at fourth, Pacific Lutheran sits fifth (311), George Fox is sixth (324), Whitman is seventh (325), Willamette is eighth (331), and host Lewis & Clark is ninth (332).

In the women's competition, Puget Sound was led by an 84 from Sarah Bicker (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) to shoot a 355.  Whitworth leads the team standings, shooting a 334 on the first 18 holes, while George Fox and Linfield are tied for second at 342.  Whitman is fifth (357), followed by Pacific (281), Pacific Lutheran (395), Willamette (411) and Lewis & Clark (425).

Full day one results are currently delayed because of a rules violation.  Tee times for day two are set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
