Logger Men In Second After Day One Of NWC Spring Classic

MOSES LAKE, Wash. - After 18 holes, the Puget Sound Loggers find themselves in second place following the first day of the 2010 Northwest Conference Spring Classic at The Links at Moses Pointe in Moses Lake, Wash.

The Loggers were led by a one-over 73 from sophomore Riley Conlin (Golden Valley, Minn./Breck), who finished the first round tied for fourth with Jared Descoteaux of Whitworth.  Greg Kirkpatrick (Longview, Wash./Mark Morris) and Marc Phillips (Boise, Idaho/Timberline) both shot three-over 75 to tie for eighth place.  Senior Jordan Hodge (Tucson, Ariz.) rounded out the Logger scorers, shooting a five-over 77 to tie for 13th.

Tyler Nelson of Linfield came out swinging, firing a four-under 68 to top the round one leaderboard.  Cameron Whittle of Whitworth is second with a three-under 69 while Pacific's Max Bonk fired an even-par 72 to round out the top three.  

Whitworth sits on top of the team standings after shooting a five-over 293.  The Loggers are second at 300, followed by Linfield (305), Pacific (308), Whitman (313), George Fox (320), Pacific Lutheran (328), Willamette (329) and Lewis & Clark (358).

The NWC Spring Classic is one of three counting tournaments towards the conference championship.  Teams will receive one point for every team they finish ahead of in the final team standings following Sunday's final round.
