Kelley's 1-Over First Round Leads Loggers At NWC Champs

KENNEWICK, Wash. – The Puget Sound men's golf team is tied for third after the first day of competition at the NWC Championships while the women's golf team currently sits in eighth. Nick Kelley was just one-over par on the day to lead the Loggers.

Kelley is currently tied for third individually with a 1-over 73 on Saturday. Alex Fitch of Linfield fired a 4-under 68 to lead the field. With Kelley leading the way, the Loggers were 15-over as a team and are tied with Pacific Lutheran for third. Linfield currently is the team-leader.

Collin Wulff sits in seventh individually with a round one score of 74 (+2). Matt Kitto was 4-over par on the day and Riley Conlin shot an 80 (+8) to round out the Loggers scoring.

On the women's side, the Loggers are currently in eighth place as a team. Ev Grier leads the Logger individually with first round score of 98 (+26). Melissa Merrigan shot a 102 (+30) and Carrie Eidsness fired a 107 (+34). Molly Nelson rounded out the Logger scoring a 116 (+44).

Whitman is the leader by one stroke on the women's side over George Fox.

Both Logger teams are back on the course tomorrow to conclude the NWC Championships.
