Freshmen stand out for men's and women's golf in 2016

TACOMA, Washington – Brett Golden paced the Puget Sound golf program through much of the 2016 spring season, including a top-20 finish out of 45 golfers in the Northwest Conference Championships.

One of Golden's best rounds was during the Pioneer Invitational on March 12. The freshman shot five over par and placed eighth overall. Golden opened the season by placing 23rd out of 56 during the Puget Sound Invitational in early March. He shot 12 over par to start the season, and 12 over to end it.

Hudson Hausmann greatly improved from the season-opening Puget Sound Invitational, when the freshman shot 34 over par. Less than two months later, Hausmann finished one stroke behind Golden (+13) in the NWC Championships.

On the women's side, senior Halle Peterson started off strong by finishing tied for sixth place (+16) in the Puget Sound Invitational. Freshman Kristi Koyanagi was the Loggers' top finisher in the conference championships, shooting 33 over par for 27th place.
