WOODBURN, Oregon – The University of Puget Sound men's and women's golf teams finished in fourth at the Willamette Spring Invite at OGA Golf Course on Friday and Saturday.
Colin Rajczak finished in a tie for ninth to lead the Logger men. He finished at 9-over 153 (72-81). Hudson Hausmann placed T-17 at +12 (78-78=156), while Casey Weston was just behind at 13-over (85-72=157), good for 22nd place. Richard Beltran finished T-29 at 18-over 162 (88-74). Jeremy Van den Berg placed 36th after shooting 29-over 173 (87-86).
The Logger men shot 51-over par as a team (322-305=627) to finish fourth. Willamette won the tournament, shooting 35-over (295-294=589) as a team.
Emmi Modahl led the way for the women's team. She finished 12th after shooting 38-over par 181 (88-93). Kristi Koyanagi fired a +44 (96-92=188) to place T-14. Allyson Nitani (106-91=197) and Natalie Nugent (97-100=197) finished +53 to place tied for 20th. Pearl Zhu placed 25th at 77-over 221 (115-106).
As a team, Puget Sound women's golf team finished 187-over par. The Loggers shot 387 in the opening round before putting up a 376 in the final round on Saturday. Whitworth won the event after shooting +93 (342-327=669) as a team.
The Loggers are next in action at the Northwest Conference Championships on April 22-23 in Tacoma.
