Mancasola's 19 points not enough as men's basketball falls

TACOMA, Washington – Carlos Mancasola scored 19 points, but the Puget Sound men's basketball team lost to Texas Lutheran 88-69 in the final game of the McArthur Classic in the Memorial Fieldhouse on Sunday evening.

Mancasola was 5-for-8 and led the Loggers in scoring and assists (four), while Andre Lewis chipped in 10 points.  Kohl Meyer recorded five steals and five rebounds to go with nine points.

Puget Sound shot 30.6 percent (19-for-62) from the field, while the Bulldogs shot 46.9 percent (30-for-64). The Loggers were 7-for-29 (24.1 percent) from beyond the arc. The team was outrebounded by Texas Lutheran 56-33. Sterling Holmes led all scorers with 28 points for the Bulldogs.

Texas Lutheran (2-1) opened the game on a 9-0 run, and the Loggers (1-2) could never recover despite forcing 22 Bulldog turnovers.

Puget Sound will next play Trinity at the Pacific Lutheran Thanksgiving Tournament on November 27. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m.
