TACOMA, Washington – Carlos Mancasola drained five 3-pointers, and two other Loggers finished in double-digits, as the Puget Sound men's basketball team defeated Pacific 77-49 on Friday evening.
Mancasola was 5-for-7 from beyond the arc, and finished with 19 total points. Kohl Meyer finished with a game-high 24 points. He also pulled down eight boards and added three assists and two steals. Timmy Saunders added 14 points off the bench.
The first ten minutes were a back-and-forth affair, but with the Loggers (8-6, 3-2 NWC) leading 15-13 with 11:13 left in the first half, they went on a 25-8 run to end the second half. Puget Sound led by as many as 36 points. The Loggers forced 21 Boxer (8-6, 2-3 NWC) turnovers, and capitalized by scoring 23 points off those turnovers.
Puget Sound shot 46.8 percent (29-for-62) from the field, while the Boxers shot 34.0 percent (17-for-50). The Loggers were 11-for-29 (37.9 percent) from beyond the arc, while Pacific was 4-for-20 (20.0 percent). The Boxers held a 38-32 rebounding edge.
Puget Sound will next play Linfield on Saturday, January 16 at 6 p.m.
