WALLA WALLA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's basketball team lost to No. 16 Whitman, 102-76, on Friday evening.
Puget Sound (9-7, 4-3 NWC) was able to stick with the nationally ranked Missionaries (14-2, 6-1 NWC), trading baskets for the first 10 minutes of the game. The two teams were tied 22-22 with 11:15 left in the first half. Whitman then began to open up their cushion, leading by as many as 33 points.
Puget Sound shot 46.7 percent (28-for-60) from the field, while Whitman shot 54.0 percent (34-for-63). The Loggers shot 33.3 percent from beyond the arc (8-for-24). The Missionaries were 14-for-27 (51.9 percent) when attempting three-pointers, and outrebounded the Loggers 42-31. Four Missionaries scored in double figures.
Puget Sound will next play at Whitworth on Saturday, January 23. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m.
