TACOMA, Washington – Kohl Meyer recorded his fifth double-double of the season to lead the Puget Sound men's basketball team to a 87-65 victory over George Fox on Saturday evening.
The Loggers (11-8, 6-4 NWC) remained solidly in third place in the Northwest Conference with the win. Meyer was 10-for-14 from the floor, and finished with a game-high 24 points, while pulling down 13 rebounds. Carlos Mancasola added 12 points, and Kyle King chipped in 11 points. Keith Shattuck was 4-for-6 from beyond the arc to finish with 16 points off the bench. Matt Reid recorded a career-high nine assists.
Puget Sound jumped out to a 4-0 lead to begin the game, and never trailed. The Loggers built their cushion over the Bruins (5-13, 2-7 NWC) with efficient shooting and solid defense. The team led by as many as 25 points, and held a 48-29 lead at halftime.
Puget Sound shot 50.0 percent (30-for-60) from the field, while the Bruins shot 33.3 percent (22-for-66). The Loggers were 8-for-22 (36.4 percent) from beyond the arc, while George Fox was 10-for-33 (30.3 percent) on 3-pointers. Puget Sound outrebounded the Bruins 47-36.
Puget Sound will next travel to Lewis & Clark on Friday, February 5. The game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
