TACOMA, Washington – Carlos Mancasola had 27 points, but the Puget Sound men's basketball team fell to George Fox, 85-78, on Saturday evening.
The first five minutes of the game were a back and forth affair, with the two teams tied, 9-9, with 15:35 remaining in the half. The Loggers (5-2, 1-1 NWC) then went on a 12-0 run to take a 21-9 lead. The home team held a 41-39 lead at halftime, and held the lead until there was 7:58 left in the game.
With the game tied, 59-59, Jeremiah Hobbs made a layup, but the Bruins (3-2, 2-0 NWC) responded with a three to take their first lead since three minutes into the game. After George Fox stretched its lead out to six points, the Loggers battled back to get within two points, at 72-70. The Bruins responded by scoring on their final eight possessions to win the conference game, 85-78.
Puget Sound shot 50.0 percent (27-for-54) from the field, while the Bruins shot 45.6 percent (31-for-68). The Loggers were 10-for-23 (43.5 percent) from beyond the arc. George Fox was 10-for-31 for three (32.3 percent). The Loggers held a 41-29 rebounding edge.
Puget Sound will next take on Northwest Indian on Wednesday, December 7. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 8 p.m.
