Men's basketball falls to Pomona-Pitzer to begin California swing

TACOMA, Washington – Jimmy Wohrer and Timmy Saunders led the way, but the Puget Sound men's basketball team fell to Pomona-Pitzer, 80-64, on Saturday evening.

Jimmy Wohrer led the way for the Loggers with 14 points, while Timmy Saunders added 13 points off the bench. Kohl Meyer chipped in nine points, five rebounds, six steals, and three steals.

The Sagehens (3-5) began to separate about five minutes into the game. The Loggers (6-3) trailed 39-22 at halftime, and Pomona-Pitzer shot 50.0 percent from the field to hold off Puget Sound.  

Puget Sound shot 35.8 percent from the field, while Pomona-Pitzer shot 50.0 percent. The Loggers were 8-for-29 (27.6 percent) from beyond the arc. The Sagehens were 9-for-17 (52.9 percent) on 3-point shots. Puget Sound were outrebounded 41-29.

Puget Sound will try to get back on the winning track when they play Cal Lutheran on Monday, December 19. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 7:30 p.m.
