Their first meeting
The Loggers beat the Lutes, 88-73, in Memorial Fieldhouse on Jan. 17. Kohl Meyer flirted with a triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and five steams. Carlos Mancasola netted 25 points, and Kyle King finished with 14 points.
Challenging the best
The Loggers nearly upset both No. 2 Whitman and No. 6 Whitworth this past weekend, but the Loggers dropped both games at home. The Loggers trailed Whitman by one point at halftime, and a layup by Kohl Meyer cut the Blues' lead to 87-84 with 27 seconds left in regulation, but Whitman held on for the win. Puget Sound also made it close late against Whitworth. A 3-pointer by Carlos Mancasola with 26 seconds left in the game cut the Loggers' deficit to 65-62, but the Pirates knocked down free throws to hold on for the win.

Scouting the Lutes (11-12, 6-8 NWC)
Pacific Lutheran enters Tuesday's contest with a three-game losing streak that started with a 101-70 loss against George Fox. The Lutes are the second-worst shooting team in the Northwest Conference, connecting on just 40.9 percent of their attempts from the floor. Brandon Lester leads the team in scoring with 17.4 points per game, and Jared Christy averages 10.8 rebounds per game.
