TACOMA, Washington – The Northwest Conference's leading scorer received the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week nod, the league announced this week. Jimmy Wohrer earned the honor following a weekend in which he set a personal record for points in a game. The award was extended to a two-week period through the holiday season.
Wohrer netted a career-high 32 points during the Loggers' 96-86 win against Wisconsin-Stout (Dec. 30) during the Whitworth Men's Classic. Wohrer saved 26 of those points for the second half. Overall, the junior shot 10-for-19 from the floor, 8-for-16 from 3-point range, and 4-for-6 from the free-throw line.
During the Loggers' preceding game, Wohrer scored 17 points in a 93-84 loss against Calvin (Dec. 29).
Wohrer leads the league in scoring with 23.3 points per game, and he's also tops in the NWC with 48 3-pointers made.
Puget Sound resumes its NWC schedule at George Fox on Friday, Jan. 5, at 8 p.m.
