Norwood earns first career shutout in scoreless draw with Whitman

TACOMA, Washington – The University of Puget Sound men's soccer team tied Whitman 0-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Loggers (9-5-1, 7-2-1 NWC) and Missionaries (2-9-2, 2-6-2 NWC) played a fairly even game, however, both the defenses remained strong.

Puget Sound had the best chance of the game in the 65th minute, when Sam Zisette was pulled down in the box. The referee pointed to the spot, however, Cameron Lorek's penalty kick was saved by Whitman keeper Milo Cantor.

The Loggers outshot Whitman 5-3 in the two overtime periods, but the two teams would settle for a scoreless draw in the end.

Whitman outshot the Loggers 15-12, while Puget Sound took more corner kicks (7-4). Cameron Lorek and Brandon Gonzalez led the team with three shots, while goalkeeper Wren Norwood (0-0-1) made three saves. The freshman earned his first career shutout.

Puget Sound will next host Whitworth on Sunday, October 125. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m., and the five Logger seniors will be honored before the match.
