TACOMA, Washington –The Puget Sound men's soccer team defeated Linfield, 2-1, in double-overtime Saturday afternoon on East Field.
The Wildcats got on the board first with just six minutes left in the match. Midfielder Isaias Flores rebounded his own shot, sneaking one past goalkeeper Wren Norwood after his initial save.
The Loggers were running out of time to tie up the game, and with only 13 seconds remaining Luke Mordock rebounded a shot and netted the equalizer for Puget Sound.
The game-winner came in the third minute of double-overtime. Midfielder Benjamin Whitman placed a flawless ball across the face of the goal that was finished by Murdock, ending the match and sealing the Loggers 2-1 win.
Puget Sound out-shot Linfield, 21-8, and tallied five more corner kicks than the Wildcats.
Norwood recorded three saves, two of which were in the first half.
The Loggers take on Willamette on East Field Sunday, Oct. 29, at 2:30 p.m.
