TYLER, Texas – The Puget Sound men's soccer team took nationally-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor into two overtimes during the first game of the 2018 season, but the No. 16 Cru outlasted the Loggers for a 2-1 victory. Texas-Tyler hosted the neutral-site game.
After a scoreless first half, the Cru took a 1-0 lead in the 63rd minute. Puget Sound junior forward netted the equalizer in the 82nd minute off an assist from Skye Guegan.
The Cru netted the game-winner in the 103rd minute.
Puget Sound mustered just five shots compared to Mary Hardin-Baylor's 25. Logger netminder Wren Norwood made nine saves, including a stop in the 90th minute that sent the game into overtime.
Puget Sound remains in Texas to play against Texas-Tyler Saturday, Sept. 1, at 5 p.m. (PT).
