TACOMA, Washington – Luke Murdock scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season as the Puget Sound men's soccer team fought to a physical 1-1 draw at Whitworth Saturday afternoon.
In the 40th minute of scoreless tie, Cale Spence's cross found Murdock on the far post, and Murdock buried the game's first score with his head. Whitworth (3-4-2, 2-0-1 NWC) even the score less than two minutes into the second half.
A total of 38 fouls were called during the game: 20 on the Loggers (3-3-1, 1-1-1 NWC) and 18 on the Pirates. Both teams received two yellow cards.
Whitworth fired a flurry of shots in the final two-and-a-half minutes. Two shots were blocked by the Logger defense, one went over the goal, and Wren Norwood made a clutch save.
The Loggers are back at it at Whitman Sunday, Sept. 23, at 12 p.m.
