Erica Gott's two homers not enough as Loggers drop two

TACOMA, Wash – Erica Gott hit two home runs, but the Loggers fell to Pacific (14-5-1, 6-2 NWC) in two games on Sunday. Puget Sound fell, 10-0, in five innings, before losing, 7-4.

Erica Gott went 3-for-4 in the second game to lead the Loggers (1-11, 1-7 NWC) with two home runs and three RBI. Kayla Andrus and Mckenna Johnson had two hits on the day, while Kristi Nagamine, Amber Popovich, and Jaci Young each recorded a hit.

Pacific 10, Puget Sound 0 (5 innings)

The Boxers jumped on the board early, scoring three runs in the first inning, and adding another run in the second inning.

The Loggers settled down after the second inning, holding Pacific scoreless in the third and fourth innings. However, the Boxers broke the game open in the fifth inning, scoring six runs to hold a 10-0 lead. One Logger runner reached base in the bottom of the inning, but Puget Sound was unable to bring her around to score, and the visitors took game one.

Jaci Young (1-7) took the loss for the Loggers. She allowed ten runs (nine earned) and struck out two in 4.1 innings. Kasey Stern threw the final 0.2 innings, allowing one hit.

Pacific 7, Puget Sound 4

The Boxers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning for the second consecutive game. Pacific would add two more runs in the top of the third inning.

The Loggers got one run back in the bottom of the third inning, on a solo home run by Erica Gott.

In the sixth inning, the Boxers scored two runs, before Jessica Gott hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning to bring the score to 7-2.

Puget Sound attempted to stage a seventh-inning comeback, a consistent theme this season. Erica Gott hit her second home run of the game, a two-run shot, which brought the Loggers within three runs. However, the home team was unable to muster any more runs, and fell.

Erica Gott (0-3) took the complete game loss. She gave up seven runs (six earned) in 7.0 innings, striking out four. 

The Loggers will next play Lewis & Clark in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 12. The first game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
