Puget Sound's last games

The Loggers (3-4, 0-1 NWC) welcomed Willamette last weekend to open the Northwest Conference schedule. Puget Sound fell, 11-5 in the first game of the day. The team then staged a late inning comeback to tie the second game, 9-9, at the end of seven innings, before the daylight ran out. This game, in addition to the final two games of the series which were rained out, will be played on March 25. In the completed game, Haley Gray hit her first home run of the year, while Amber Popovich went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jaci Young and Jessica Shimoda each recorded an RBI as well.

Student-Athlete of the Week

Jaci Young was named the Northwest Conference Pitcher of the Week after throwing 12 scoreless innings, including a complete game shutout, to open the season. The senior is the first Logger softball player to earn a Student-Athlete of the Week since Taylor Jones in 2014. She is the first pitcher to earn the honor since April 12, 2011, when assistant coach Auriel Day (then Sperberg) earned the honor.

The Loggers opened the 2017 season with a six-game trip to Southern California. The team split double headers with Pomona-Pitzer, Chapman, and Occidental. Jessica Gott hit .421 over the six games, while Erica Gott finished the weekend hitting .389.
