FOREST GROVE, Oregon – The Logger softball team fell to Pacific, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon in the first game of the scheduled doubleheader. The second game is currently in the second inning, and postponed due to rain.
Puget Sound had three hits in the top of the first inning, but the Loggers were unable to push across a run. Pacific (3-12, 1-4 NWC) took advantage, and grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the inning on just one hit.
The Boxers used a five run third inning to take control of the game. Despite getting runners on in each of the final three innings, Puget Sound was unable to rally, and ultimately fell, 6-0.
Jessica Gott (1-1) took the loss for the Loggers, giving up six runs (five earned) in three innings while striking out one. Erica Gott threw two scoreless innings, striking out two; and Kasey Stern threw one scoreless inning, recording one strikeout.
The second game of the double header was postponed due to weather. It will be made up at a date in the future to be announced.
The Loggers will next host Lewis & Clark in a four-game series. The first game is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 11.
