TACOMA, Washington – Puget Sound junior first baseman Jessica Gott has been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday. Gott was named to the District 8 Team as an infielder.
In the classroom, Gott, carries a 3.98 GPA while studying in psychology. The junior from Lynwood, Washington, led the Loggers throughout the 2017 season in batting average, finishing the year hitting .378. She also led the squad with 27 runs batted in, while clubbing four home runs, good for second on the team. She also recorded 12 doubles and a triple. Gott played in all 39 games for the Loggers, striking out just eight times in 119 at bats. While spending some time at pitcher, Gott spent the majority of the season at first base, recording 277 putouts, with a .987 fielding percentage.
Gott helped lead a Logger team which improved its win total by three games from last year, and won the most games of a Puget Sound squad since 2010. She also earned a spot on the All-Northwest Conference Honorable Mention Team.
Gott is one of two Northwest Conference Student-Athletes to earn All-District honors. Whitworth pitcher Madison Perez was also named to the District 8 Team.
