CLAREMONT, California – The Puget Sound softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at Pomona-Pitzer Friday afternoon. The Sagehens won the first game, 4-0, and took the second game, 4-2.
Pomona-Pitzer (2-0) did all of its damage in the first inning of the second game, taking an early 4-0 lead. The Loggers (2-5-1) got a run back in the fifth inning. Catherine Daggi reached base on a one-out single, and she promptly stole second base. A wild pitch allowed Daggi to move up to third base, and Camille Goo delivered an RBI single to right field.
Puget Sound got one more run in the top of the seventh inning, when Amanda Fehr led off with a single to right field. A wild pitch moved the runner into scoring position, and Abby Brondos came through with an RBI single.
The Loggers remain in California for a doubleheader against Whittier on Sunday, Feb. 18, starting at 12 p.m.
