Loggers welcome Pirates to campus for four-game series

TACOMA, Washington – The Northwest Conference schedule continues at home for the Puget Sound softball team this weekend when the Loggers host Whitworth for a four-game series.

Freshman rising

Mackensie Pearlstein enters this weekend with a five-game hitting streak, including three multi-hit games during that stretch. She has eight hits in her last 16 at-bats, and she leads Puget Sound in hitting with a .400 batting average (10th in NWC).


Gott to get two

Erica Gott is tied for second in the NWC for doubles with seven this season. She opened the season with a double in three consecutive games. The Loggers are fourth in the NWC with 18 doubles.


Just a little patience

Three Loggers rank among the top 12 batters in the NWC for walks. Amber Popovich leads the Loggers, and is tied for second in the NWC, with eight free passes. Mackensie Pearlstein is tied for seventh with six walks, and Haley Gray is tied for 12th with five. As a team, Puget Sound ranks second in the NWC with 43 walks.


Scouting Whitworth (7-7, 0-2 NWC)

The Pirates' two NWC losses this season came at George Fox, Feb. 24. Since then, Whitworth has won four of its last six games. Chelsey Hayes leads the team in batting average (.413) and RBI (9). Starting pitcher Madelyn Carlson is 6-2 this season with a 1.82 ERA.
