Tate introduces five new Loggers to softball program

TACOMA, Washington - Puget Sound softball head coach Kellyn Tate is excited to introduce five new Loggers to the program. The incoming freshmen hail from California, Oregon, and Washington. 

"I can't wait to begin working with this incoming class," said Tate. "They had so much success both on and off the field during their respective high school careers, their presence will help us compete at a high level in practice, in games, and in the classroom."


Meet the Loggers


Abby Wong / Camas, Wash. / Camas High School

Abbi has spent most of her softball career behind the plate as the starting catcher for both her high school and select teams. Her experience and knowledge of the position will be instrumental in the development of the Loggers' young pitching staff. 


Kelsie Sullivan / Corvallis, Ore. / Corvallis High School

Kelsie is teammates with Abbi on their select team, Bat Company. She is a versatile and athletic player exhibited best by her ability to dominate both in the pitching circle and outfield.

High School Accolades: First Team All-League Pitcher; Team Captain.


Hana DeGuzman / San Jose, Calif. / Archbishop Mitty High School

Hana is a dynamic utility player who will compete for a position either in the middle infield or the outfield. She will add additional speed on the bases and a catalyst for the Puget Sound offense.

High School Accolades: Scholar Athlete Award (highest GPA on team); Second Team All-League (senior); Graduated with Honors; Principal's Honor Roll (4.0+ GPA); All-CCS Honorable Mention.


Caitlin Lamb / Cherry Valley, Calif. / Beaumont High School

Caitlin is a comfortable playing either corner position. She brings a strong presence with her to the plate in her ability to hit both for power and average.

High School Accolades: Team Captain; Scholar-Athlete all three years on varsity team; Graduated magna cum laude, in the top 7% of class.


Maddy Garcia / Mountain View, Calif. / Mountain View High School

Maddy will add depth to the Loggers' pitching staff. She demonstrates a tremendous amount of composure on the mound. She has the ability to command the zone and a consistent change-up that will help her be successful against any hitter.

High School Accolades: Three First Team All-League Awards; Third Team All CCS Award.
