Brondos leads home run brigade during wins over Lewis & Clark

TACOMA, Washington – Abby Brondos mashed a couple of home runs as the Puget Sound softball team cleared the outfield fence five times during a couple of wins against Lewis & Clark on Logger Field Saturday afternoon.

Puget Sound 10, Lewis & Clark 1 (5 inn.)

The Pioneers held a 1-0 lead entering the third inning, but that's when the Loggers posted seven runs en route to a 10-1 victory.

Hana DeGuzman got the rally started with a one-out single, and she stole second base. Kelsie Sullivan followed with an RBI single, and then Abbi Wong belted her second home run of the season to give the Loggers a 3-1 edge.

Following a single by Marissa Oda and a double by Maddie Colombo, Mackensie Pearlstein delivered a two-run base knock. Brondos put the exclamation mark on the third inning with a two-run jack.

Maddy Garcia allowed just one earned run through five innings to earn the victory for Puget Sound.

Puget Sound 8, Lewis & Clark 6

Once again the Pioneers grabbed an early lead, but their 3-0 advantage didn't hold up as the Loggers came back for an 8-6 victory.

Lewis & Clark plated three runs in the first inning, but a two-run homer by Abby Brondos cut the Loggers' deficit to one run in the second inning.

The Loggers struck for two more runs in the fourth inning thanks to an RBI double by Mackensie Pearlstein and an RBI single by Noelle Kerr.

In the fourth inning, Marissa Oda scored Kelsie Sullivan with a double, and Maddie Colombo launched a two-run bomb.

Sullivan earned the victory in the circle by working all seven innings.

The Loggers and Pioneers conclude their weekend series with two games at Logger Field Sunday, March 31, at 12 p.m.
