FOREST GROVE, Oregon – The Puget Sound women's swim team opened the 2015-16 season with a convincing win at Northwest Conference foe Pacific, while the men's team came up just short against the Boxers. The Logger women were victorious, 145.5-55.5, and the men were on the wrong end of a 99-92 decision.
Sam Anders, Auri Clark, and Melisa Kegans led the charge for the Puget Sound women. Anders picked up nine points for the Loggers by winning the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.45). She and Clark also joined forces with Anne Shirey and Kayla Dimicco to win the 200 medley relay (1:54.50).
Individually, Clark won the 100 butterfly (1:00.76) and placed second in the 400 individual medley (4:58.12). Kegans won the 200 freestyle (2:02.78) and placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:02.34).
On the men's side, Connor King won the 1,000 freestyle (10:16.86) and placed third in the 100 backstroke (58.88). David Olson grabbed second place in the 100 backstroke (57.49) and third in the 1,000 freestyle (10:37.87). Jaycob Davies won the 500 freestyle (5:00.58) for the Loggers, and took second place in the 200 freestyle (1:51.83).
Puget Sound remains on the road for a 12 p.m. meet at Lewis & Clark on Saturday, Nov. 7.
