Puget Sound swim teams downed by Simon Fraser

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound swim teams returned to Wallace Pool for their first home meet since November, but both the men and women lost to NCAA Division-II member Simon Fraser on Saturday afternoon. The Logger women fell, 130-68, and the men lost, 112-57.

On the men's side, Nick Mitchell finished third in both the 800-meter freestyle (8:48.55) and 200 individual medley (2:23.26). The sophomore also placed second in the 400 freestyle (4:21.84). Keven Henley picked up a pair of second-place finishes by finishing the 100 freestyle in 54.56 and timing in at 24.27 in the 50 freestyle.

On the women's side, Carmen Mena finished third in both the 800 freestyle (10:09.88) and 400 freestyle (4:58.51). Ally Hembree claimed second place in the 400 freestyle (4:54.31) and also in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.41).

The Loggers resume Northwest Conference competition at Whitworth on Jan. 22, at 6 p.m.
