Trio of Loggers Compete At Willamette Spring Break Open

SALEM, Ore. – Competing in his first collegiate decathlon, freshman Myles McDonald (Vancouver, Wash./Prairie) overcame his first half struggles to take sixth at the Willamette Multi-Events in Salem, Ore.

While he fell just short of the qualification mark for the Northwest Conference championships, McDonald used a strong performance in the 1500m run, taking second with a time of 4:50.35, to finish with a score of 4894.

Two other Loggers joined McDonald in Salem, as Andrea Leiken (Portland, Ore./Sunset) took second in the 400m dash with a time of 1:01.42 and Chris Pierce-Wright (Portland, Ore./Caitlin-Gable) took 12th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.03.

The rest of the Loggers will return to action next week when Puget Sound plays host to the Joe Peyton Invitational on Saturday at Baker Stadium in Tacoma, Wash.
