SALEM, Ore. - Running just his second outdoor race of the season, Puget Sound senior Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.) just beat the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark in the 10000m run, taking fifth at the Willamette Invitational on Saturday in Salem, Ore.
Reynolds concluded the 25-lap race in a time of 31:05.83, a little over four seconds quicker than the provisional qualifying time of 31:10.00. The time was quick enough to give Reynolds fifth place in the 35-runner field.
According to raceberryjam.com, Reynolds' time is the second-quickest in NCAA DIII this year, about seven seconds behind Chris McIsaac of NWC-rival Linfield, who posted a 30:58.03 at the Linfield Erik Anderson Icebreaker on March 5.
The rest of the Logger track and field program will be in action on Saturday as the maroon and white play host to the 25th-annual JD Shotwell Invitational, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Baker Stadium in Tacoma, Wash.
