McDonald Wins Javelin, Places 10th In Decathlon

SPOKANE, Wash. – Myles McDonald posted a personal-best decathlon score of 5,231 points and jumped to 10th place at the NWC Multi Event Championships on Tuesday. McDonald recorded PRs in the javelin and discus to help him move up from his day one positioning.

McDonald's best performance came in the javelin throw when he bettered his previous personal record by 20 feet and won the event. He took the top spot in the event with a toss of 177 feet, 1 inch, which is also a NWC Qualifying mark for the javelin and currently ranks fifth among conference competitors. His toss also ranks third on the Loggers all-time list.

McDonald's other PR came in the discus throw, which he also placed second in. His throw of 120 feet, seven inches was less than two feet off the winning throw from Evin Colignon.

Colignon won the individual decathlon title with 6,419 points.

The Loggers track & field team will next travel to Ellensburg, Wash. on Saturday for the Spike Arlt Invitational.
