Logger Men Hit Big Marks At Spike Arlt

ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The University of Puget Sound track and field teams took on some tough competition at the Spike Arlt Invitational on Saturday. The Logger women's team placed sixth while the men's team placed eighth.

Daniel Berendsen had one of the best Logger performances of the meet in the high jump as he hit the sixth-highest jump on the Loggers all-time list. His jump of six feet, six inches was a PR by over five inches and ranks second in the NWC. He is also just 0.05m off of an NCAA Provisional mark.

Michael Haas and Lukas Diesing each ran personal-bests for the Loggers with both recording an 11.39 in the 100m. Haas's time is also a new NWC Qualifying Time in his last chance to record the time before the conference meet. Chris Morrison and Kupono Park also recorded PRs in the event.

Myles McDonald also continued his recent hot streak with personal-bests and NWC qualifying times in the 110m and 400m hurdles. He recorded times of 17.54 in the 110m hurdles and 1:01.40 in the 400m hurdles. Matt Heflin also hit a PR with a 59.91 in the 400m hurdles.

The women's team didn't see as many PRs as the men but put a solid performance together. Andrea Leiken's 12.87 in the 100m was a personal-best while Rebecca Belvin's 13.31 in the same event was a seasonal-best and NWC qualifier.

Hayley Walker was the women's highest finisher in fifth place in the 1500m run. She ran a 4:56. 47.

The Loggers will next compete at the Northwest Conference Championships in McMinnville, Ore. on Apr. 22-23.
