Leiken Leads Loggers At NWC Championships

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Andrea Leiken earned All-NWC honors in two events to lead the University of Puget Sound track & field teams at the NWC Championships. Leiken placed second in the 200m and third in the 400m.

In the 20m dash, Leiken posted a 26.70, less than half a second behind the leader, to finish second an take home All-NWC honors. She also posted a 58.85 in the 400m dash to finish third for her second All-NWC finish of the day.

Alicia Burns also kept her second seed in the 800m with a 2:20.28 to finish second in the event and take home All-NWC honors. Hayley Walker also finished seventh in the event.

Burns, Leiken and Walker along with Meg Gilbertson also placed second as a team in the women's 4x400m relay with a time of 4:02.91.

On the men's side, Emerson Sample posted the Loggers best finish in the 400m hurdles. Sample improved upon his prelims time with a 57.62 to finish fifth in the event.

The women's team finished in sixth with 61 points while the men's team placed seventh with 18 points. George Fox took the women's title while Whitworth took the men's title.
