PULLMAN, Washington – The Puget Sound men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in their first major event this weekend at the Cougar Indoor, hosted by Washington State. Puget Sound was one of three Division-III teams that competed in dual scoring, along with Northwest Conference members Linfield and Whitworth.
In dual scoring, the Logger women tied Linfield, 43-43, but lost to Whitworth, 73-17. The Logger men lost to Whitworth, 64-32, and Linfield, 50-42.
Allanah Whitehall continued her incredible season by placing sixth overall (first in D-III) in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.92. Melissa Motyer and Mara Cummings finished 18th and 19th (fourth and fifth, D-II), respectively, in the 200-meter dash with times of 1:04.48 and 1:05.53.
The women's 4x400 relay team comprised of Motyer, Megan Absten, Alison Wise, and Cummings finished in 4:21.39, good for seventh overall. Shelby Kanter was the top D-III finisher (11th overall) in the triple jump, at 10.62 meters.
On the men's side, Graham Cobb was 12th overall in the 60-meter dish, timing in at 23.80. Ross MacAusland crossed the finish line of the 400-meter dash in 54.08, good for 12th overall. The 4x400 relay team of Todd Detweiler, Jonathan Rosenberg, Cobb, and MacAusland came in at 11th overall (3:54.87).
Steve Branham finished eighth in the long jump at 6.03 meters, and Reilyn Garton placed 14th in the shot put at 13.05 meters.
