Indoor track & field season begins at Washington State

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's and women's 2019 indoor track & field season begins this weekend in the Washington State Open in Pullman, Washington.

 

Bradlina's back

Emery Bradlina qualified for the NCAA Division-III Championships during the 2018 indoor track & field season. She competed on the national stage in the 800-m run, where she placed 16th overall.

 

Wells, wells, well

Matt Wells was named the Men's West Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year in 2018, as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. His season included a school record in the 60-m hurdles (8.23 seconds), which was tops in the region.

 

Two-sport Logger

Senior Lura Morton joins the Puget Sound women's track & field team for the first time in her Logger career. She is a four-year letter winner and two-time Northwest Conference champion with Puget Sound women's soccer.

 

From the course to the track

Several Puget Sound men's and women's cross country runners continue the athletic year with Puget Sound track & field. The group includes 2018 NWC Men's Cross Country Champion and NCAA Men's qualifier Colin Monaghan, NCAA Women's qualifier Emery Bradlina, and two-time Women's Cross Country All-NWC honoree Samantha Schaffer. Rachael Metzler, Jack Monaghan, Liam Monaghan, and Isaac Fournier are also among the Logger cross country runners that will compete in track & field.

 

Looking ahead

Puget Sound is slated to compete in Seattle, Jan. 25-26, in the Husky Invitational. The Loggers return to Pullman, Washington for the Cougar Indoor, Feb. 1-2.
