McKinnis Gets First Team Nod, Forshay Honorbale Mention On All-NWC
FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Senior Kelsey McKinnis ended her stellar career with a nod on the All-Northwest Conference First Team, the conference announced on Thursday. Sophomore Amanda Forshay earned her first career postseason honors with Honorable Mention on the All-NWC team.
McKinnis, a senior from Ashland, Ore., earned her third career postseason honor. She had previously earned Second Team honors as both a sophomore and a junior.
"We are very proud of both Kelsey and Amanda for their accomplishments," said head coach Loree Payne. "As a sophomore, Amanda was a key factor to our success and the future looks very bright. Kelsey, as a leader and three-time all-conference player had an incredible year to end an incredible Logger career!"
McKinnis finished her spectacular career last week and ranks sixth on the Loggers all-time scoring list with 1,383 career points. She also ranks in the top-10 in points per game, assists, three-point field goals and three-point percentage.
This year, McKinnis again led the Loggers in scoring with 14 points per game. She knocked down 37.7 percent of her three-point tries and was an 85.7 percent free throw shooter. She also averaged 2.4 assists per game and a career-high 5.2 rebounds per game. Her 36 points against Southern Oregon in November also stands has the best single game in the Loggers Division III history and second all-time.
Forshay, a sophomore from Moraga, Calif., ranked second on the squad with 8.9 points per game. She tied with McKinnis for a team-best 10.5 points per game in conference play. She came on late in the season to score in double digits in five of the Loggers last six games, including a pair of 20-point efforts. She also shot nearly 48 percent from the floor and knocked down 43.2 percent of her three-point shots.
Forshay will lead a group of 11 returners, including three starters, into the 2013-14 season next November.
