CLAREMONT, California – Emily Sheldon notched her first double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Puget Sound women's basketball team topped Pomona-Pitzer, 84-67, in the first day of the David Wells Classic hosted by Claremont-M-S on Friday night.
Sheldon added five assists in the Puget Sound (3-2) victory. Alexis Noren finished just one rebound shy of her third double-double in five games. The junior totaled a season-high 18 points, nine rebounds, four steals, and three assists.
Samone Jackson scored a season-best 17 points in the win, 12 of which came in the first half. Her previous season high was 14 points at La Verne on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Allie Wyszynski scored in double figures for the second time this season, netting 10 points to go with six rebounds.
The Loggers dominated the Sagehens (1-3) on the glass, 53-35.
Pomona-Pitzer held a 35-33 lead at halftime, but Puget Sound stormed back to win the third quarter, 25-15, and never looked back.
The Loggers conclude the David Wells Classic against CMS on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 5 p.m.
