PARKLAND, Washington – Emily Sheldon recorded her sixth 20-point game of the season as the Puget Sound women's basketball team fell to Illinois Wesleyan 83-72 on Friday evening.
Sheldon, who is averaging 20.3 ppg on the year, scored 20 points, pulled down eight boards, and had four dimes. Alexis Noren chipped in 16 points and two steals to the effort.
The Titans (4-5) outscored the Loggers (6-4) in three of the four quarters. Puget Sound made a run in the third quarter, outscoring Illinois Wesleyan 25-22, and closing the gap to eight. However, they were not able to get any closer, and the Titans ultimately won.
Both teams shot the ball well. Puget Sound shot 47.5 percent (29-for-61) from the field, while Illinois Wesleyan shot 49.3 percent (33-for-67). The Loggers were 4-for-11 (36.4 percent) from beyond the arc. The Titans were 5-for-16 (31.3 percent) on 3-point shots. Puget Sound edged Illinois Wesleyan in rebounds 38-37, but 24 turnovers doomed the Loggers.
Puget Sound will next play its final game of 2015 against Chicago on Saturday, December 19. The game, which will be held at Pacific Lutheran, is scheduled to tip-off at 4 p.m.
