Jackson's career-high and Sheldon's double-double lead Loggers past Pioneers

PORTLAND, Oregon – Samone Jackson set a new career-high, while Emily Sheldon recorded a double-double to lead the Puget Sound women's basketball team over Lewis & Clark, 80-62, on Friday evening.

Jackson was 10-for-14 from the floor, and 3-for-4 from 3-point range to set a new career-high of 25 points. Emily Sheldon recorded her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 20 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. The senior has scored in double-digits in 19 of 20 games so far this season. Alexis Noren chipped in 13 points and five assists.  

The Loggers (13-7, 8-3 NWC) outscored the Pioneers (2-18, 1-10 NWC) in all four quarters, including jumping out to a 23-13 lead after a first period in which Jackson scored eight-consecutive points. Puget Sound led by as many as 25 points, and never trailed in the game. The team outscored Lewis & Clark 40-24 in the paint, and forced 21 Pioneer turnovers.

Puget Sound shot 45.6 percent (31-for-68) from the field, while the Pioneers shot 37.5 percent (24-for-64). The Loggers were 5-for-18 (27.8 percent) from beyond the arc, while LC was 7-for-17 (41.2 percent). The Loggers held a 39-29 rebounding edge.  

Puget Sound will next play at Willamette on Saturday, February 6 at 4 p.m.
