PORTLAND, Oregon – Alexis Noren recorded a double-double, as the No. 7/10 Puget Sound women's basketball team beat Lewis & Clark, 74-57, on Friday evening. The Loggers have now won 12 games in a row.
Noren's fourth double-double of the year led the way for the Loggers. The senior scored 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. She also recorded four steals. Leading all scorers was Jamie Lange, with 17 points. She was 8-of-10 from the field, and also had seven boards. Elizabeth Prewitt (11), Claire Fitzgerald (11), Caitlin Malvar (10), and Samone Jackson (11) all scored in double-figures for Puget Sound.
The Pioneers (14-7, 7-5 NWC) hung with the nationally ranked Loggers (19-1, 11-0 NWC) for the first half. The visitors held a 33-29 lead at halftime. Puget Sound opened the third quarter with a 12-2 run to take control of the game. The Loggers pushed the lead to as much as 23, and eventually won, 74-57.
Puget Sound shot 50.8 percent (32-for-63) from the field, while LC shot 35.9 percent (23-for-64). The Loggers were 6-for-12 (50.0 percent) from beyond the arc. The Pioneers were 7-for-23 (30.4 percent) on 3-point shots. Puget Sound held a 43-31 rebounding edge. The Loggers dominated in the paint, outscoring the home team 46-22.
The Loggers will look to stay undefeated in conference play Saturday, February 4, at Willamette. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 4 p.m.
