Loggers clinch NWC title on Senior Night

TACOMA, Washington – The No. 6/10 Puget Sound women's basketball team clinched the Northwest Conference regular-season title with a 78-58 triumph over Whitworth in Memorial Fieldhouse on Saturday evening. It's the program's first outright NWC regular-season title since joining the NCAA D-III ranks.

The Loggers have shared the NWC crown three times: 2007-08 (George Fox), 2006-07 (George Fox), 2003-04 (Whitman).

Prior to Saturday's tipoff, the Loggers (22-1, 14-0 NWC) honored two seniors playing in their final regular-season game in Memorial Fieldhouse: Alexis Noren and Katie Holland.

Noren filled the stat sheet against the Pirates (10-13, 6-8 NWC). The Milwaukie, Oregon, native scored 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out five assists, and came away with four steals.

Jamie Lange finished with her third consecutive double-double by scoring a game-high 21 points and pulling down 16 rebounds.

Samone Jackson finished with 14 points, and Elizabeth Prewitt tallied 12.

Puget Sound continues its schedule at crosstown rival Pacific Lutheran on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m.

Along with the regular-season title, Puget Sound clinches the NWC Tournament's No. 1 seed. The Loggers will host the first round of the playoffs on Thursday, Feb. 23.
