FOREST GROVE, Oregon – The No. 6/7 Puget Sound women's basketball team concluded its regular season in style, capturing the program's first-ever undefeated record in Northwest Conference competition. The Loggers beat Pacific, 76-67, on the road Saturday night, rounding out the regular season with a 16-0 NWC record. Puget Sound has a 24-1 overall record.
Last week, the Loggers clinched the NWC regular-season title and the No. 1 seed for the NWC Tournament. Puget Sound hosts Lewis & Clark on Thursday, Feb. 23, for the first round of the NWC Tournament at 7 p.m.
Samone Jackson made Puget Sound history during the Loggers' victory over the Boxers (8-17, 6-10 NWC). Her two 3-pointers on the night gave her 79 treys this season, surpassing Kilty Keaton's single-season mark of 78 (2005-06).
Jackson finished with 15 points, while Elizabeth Prewitt led the Loggers in scoring with 22 points. Jamie Lange posted her fifth consecutive double-double with 18 points and 18 rebounds. Caitlin Malvar netted 10 points and four assists, and Alexis Noren finished with seven points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
