SPOKANE, Washington – Jamie Lange crushed the offensive glass and took advantage of her many trips to the foul line during the Puget Sound women's basketball team's 59-54 win at Whitworth Friday night.

Lange notched her sixth double-double of the season with 26 points and 15 rebounds against the Pirates (8-8, 3-4 NWC). Nine of Lange's rebounds came on the offensive end.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, but Puget Sound (12-3, 5-2 NWC) carried a 27-17 lead into the locker room. Whitworth came out of the break in a fury.

The Pirates shot 10-for-16 (62.5 percent) from the floor in the third quarter, while forcing the Loggers into six turnovers through the first 10 minutes of the second half. Whitworth held a 42-38 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Loggers evened the score at 44 just 2:30 into the final quarter, thanks a 3-pointer by Cassidy Daugherty, and an and-one layup by Lange. The Pirates were able to keep the Loggers from claiming a lead until RaeAnn Allen hit a driving layup to give Puget Sound a 51-50 edge with 2:14 left in regulation.

Following a steal by Mara Henderson, Lange hit a defining layup that cushioned the lead to 53-50.

Puget Sound remains on the road to take on No. 24 Whitman Saturday, Jan. 19, at 4 p.m.
